Comics Awwe Favorites Argentina and France to Win the 2026 World Cup

The man known for his active role in stand-up comedy revealed that he actually has an emotional connection with the Italian national team. However, different circumstances have led him to view other countries as having a greater chance of winning the 2026 World Cup.

Awwe believes that the performances of several star players in recent times are one of the factors that make him favor two strong countries as candidates for the championship.

Although he admits he is not a football analyst who follows developments every day, Awwe sees several indicators that make these two teams worthy of being considered favorites. One of them is the performance of star players who are still able to make a significant impact in international matches.

"Actually, Italy for me is just Italy, not in the running. Well, I don't really follow football, but this is when you interviewed me, Messi just scored a hat trick, so I think Argentina and France still have quite a strong chance (to win). For me, it seems to be between those two, yeah, it seems like that," said Awwe when met in South Jakarta recently.

In addition to favoring Argentina and France, Awwe also holds hope for one of the Asian representatives that has recently shown significant development at the international level. For him, the presence of an Asian team that can go far would be an interesting story in the four-year event.

The development of football in Asia in recent years has indeed attracted attention. For that reason, Awwe hopes for a surprise to come from the Asian region.

"I just still want to see Japan go far. I don’t know why, but I enjoy seeing Japan like that, if they can go far, that would be nice too," he continued.

Awwe's hopes were dashed as Japan's journey had to stop after losing 1-2 to Brazil in the round of 32 of the World Cup.

Not only talking about favorite teams, Awwe also mentioned several player names that he thinks deserve the spotlight during the 2026 World Cup. The first name that immediately comes to mind is Lionel Messi. For Awwe, the Argentine megastar remains a player who is always interesting to watch, regardless of his age, which is no longer young.

According to Awwe, Messi's journey on the international stage still holds its own appeal. He even does not rule out the possibility that the player can still perform competitively in the coming years. Besides Messi, Awwe also highlights Neymar, who he believes has the opportunity to prove himself after various challenges faced throughout his career.

"I always enjoy watching Messi. (Last Dance) I don't know if he will still be playing at forty-two, we don't know. Sometimes four years can go by unnoticed, but I always enjoy watching him," said Awwe.

"As for Neymar, it seems like he is more about proving himself. If he can rise here, no matter the outcome, I think I would be happy for him," concluded Awwe.
