The Duet of Rama and Alexa in D'Academy 8 Makes Lesti Kejora, Soimah, and Wika Salim Stand Up, Flooded with Praise

Rama and Alexa performed a duet while singing the song "Ini Dangdut" and successfully captured the attention of the judges on the Dangdut Academy stage. Although Rama received several evaluations regarding his singing technique, their duet still garnered appreciation in the form of a standing ovation (SO) from Lesti Kejora, Soimah, and Wika Salim.

Soimah was the first judge to provide comments. She admitted that she intentionally stood up to give a standing ovation to Alexa, who was considered more prepared in mastering the song material. Meanwhile, for Rama, Soimah noted that there are still some homework tasks that need to be improved immediately.

"This song 'Ini Dangdut' is not 'Bang Jali'," said Soimah while mimicking Rama's dancing style, which immediately drew laughter from the audience. "I stood up for Alexa, okay? Don't be disheartened, don't be disappointed because you have a few notes. But Rama, you are very entertaining. You need to correct your tempo," she said.

It didn't stop there, Soimah even paused the music when Rama started dancing again after being asked to repeat a part of the song. According to her, Rama should focus more on fixing his vocals and tempo first before thinking about choreography.

"Music stop! When you're focused on singing, don't sway yet. Fix your singing first. I don't want to pull your hair, swaying can wait. Just fix the vocals and the tempo first. These inputs need to be improved," Soimah emphasized. Rama responded briefly, "Understood."

Wika Salim also praised Alexa, who was deemed able to deliver each part of the song with a different emotion according to the arrangement. On the other hand, she admitted that she saw Rama having an elusive stage charm despite still making some mistakes.

"I really like Alexa's performance. In every part, her mood is different but fits the arrangement. Rama actually has his own charm too. Even though there were some misses, it was still entertaining. I'm confused about why that is," said Wika, who was immediately met by Rama's remark, "The aura is different."

Nevertheless, Wika reminded Rama to focus more on the competition. She also praised Coach Melly Lee for successfully shaping both of their performances to be more mature. "Rama needs to focus more, dear. It was very noticeable that Alexa was like nurturing Rama. The homework that has been given must really be done. And I also want to give appreciation to Coach Melly. Everything is a complete package when it's in Coach Melly's hands," said Wika.

Meanwhile, Lesti Kejora admitted to being amused by the performances of the two academies. According to her, Alexa has already shown qualities as a potential star despite her young age. Meanwhile, Rama is considered to have great potential, as long as he can improve his shortcomings when performing on stage. "Seeing both of you is like watching my child sing, it's very cute. Alexa is small but fierce. She is ready to be on this big stage. If she continues to be consistent and learn, Alexa can become a star. As for Rama, oh the handsome one. If he passes again, make sure to learn from Coach Melly so that if he forgets, it won’t show on stage. Both of you are assets to the dangdut music scene. So we must support and back you up," said Lesti.
