Renowned action actor Donny Alamsyah Benjamin once again demonstrates his acting skills in the latest film titled THE HOSTAGE'S HEROES. In this film, based on the true story of the hostage rescue operation in the Strait of Malacca in 2004, he is entrusted to portray the character of Lieutenant Colonel Taufiq. Interestingly, this character is a leader of a warship with significant responsibilities in the open sea.

"Lieutenant Colonel Taufiq is the Commander of the Frigate whose name is the Sultan Hasanuddin Frigate. The story is that he receives a mission to be the commander of that ship with the task of testing a ship that has just had its engine replaced, from steam ship to diesel ship," said Donny Alamsyah. When met at Epicentrum, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (30/03/2026), Donny shared his admiration for the storyline of this film. For him, the role is not just a job, but a tribute to the dedication of the TNI Navy soldiers. He feels very honored to represent the meticulous leadership in facing armed pirate threats in Indonesia's sovereign territory.

"In fact, I feel proud to be part of this project, telling that this is a very good heroic story to be known by the Indonesian public. Although in this film there are some added dramatic elements, there are some additions to the ambush scenes that were made to be more aesthetically pleasing for the film. But the original story is truly amazing in my opinion," he said enthusiastically.

During the filming process on the real warship, Donny discovered many unique things he had never known before. One of them is the unwritten rule regarding the captain's chair, which is considered very sacred by the crew. As the actor portraying the commander, Donny was the only person allowed to occupy that authoritative seat on set.

"I feel really handsome, Mas. The captain's chair is not to be sat on by anyone except the commander," explained the man who started his career through the film 9 Naga.

The belief among the ship's crew states that there is a kind of "curse" for those who dare to sit in that chair besides the original captain. It is said that anyone who violates this rule will face difficulties in their career path to become a ship leader in the future. These mystical elements and high discipline are what made Donny appreciate the lives of the soldiers aboard the frigate even more.

"Whoever sits on that chair besides the commander will find it difficult to become a commander, hard to get promoted. That’s their belief," added Donny Alamsyah with a small laugh recalling the moment.

The film THE HOSTAGE'S HEROES focuses on the tension aboard the MT Pematang ship, which is taken over by pirates. With the lives of 36 hostages at stake, Lieutenant Colonel Taufiq and his team on KRI Karel Satsuitubun-356 must devise a quick strategy without additional combat troops to neutralize the fully armed enemy.
