MD Pictures releases the teaser trailer for Laddaland Housing, ready to spread terror starting August 2026.
Kapanlagi.com - The horror film LASTRI: THE SPIRIT OF THE VILLAGE officially released its first trailer and poster at an event held at XXI Pejaten Village, South Jakarta. This launch marked an important moment for the film directed by Hendri Tivo as it began to introduce the dark story of Lastri to the public ahead of its release on July 16, 2026.
However, behind the chilling atmosphere offered by this film, there is an emotional story that makes LASTRI: THE SPIRIT OF THE VILLAGE one of the most anticipated horror films of the year. The film is known to be the last appearance of the late Gary Iskak on the big screen before he passed away in November 2025.
Gary Iskak's presence in this film left a deep impression on the cast and crew. Many consider Lastri to be the last legacy of the actor for the Indonesian film industry. Therefore, the release of the trailer and poster feels more emotional compared to the launch of typical horror films.
At the event, cast members such as Hana Saraswati, Yama Carlos, Ratu Meta, Rizal Djibran, Audy Bella, Nando Hilmy, Debby Sahertian, and Ingrid Wijanarto were present to witness the snippet of the story that will haunt the big screen next month.
The trailer presented does not solely rely on the appearance of terrifying figures or shocking scenes. Instead, the film builds tension slowly through the emergence of Lastri, depicted as a figure full of wounds and mystery. On the other hand, the character Turenggo, played by Gary Iskak, holds a big secret that is an important part of the story.
Producer Joe Richard stated that from the beginning, the production team wanted to provide a deeper experience than just a horror film that relies on audience screams.
"We do not just want to scare people. We want the audience to feel a sense of loss, fear, and something left behind. This trailer is just the beginning. This is a film that we built with heart. And we are sure the audience will feel it," said Joe Richard.
A similar approach was also applied by director Hendri Tivo in designing the premiere trailer. He intentionally created a calm yet pressing atmosphere so that the feeling of fear emerges slowly and lingers in the audience's mind.
"The strongest fear is not the one that comes suddenly, but the one that creeps in slowly. That's what we tried to build in Lastri. And this trailer only opens the door," said the director.

Meanwhile, Hana Saraswati, who plays the main character, believes that Lastri is not just a spirit that terrorizes. The character harbors emotional wounds that are the essence of the entire story.
"Lastri is not just a scary figure. She is a wound that never heals. And that is what keeps her ‘alive’."
In agreement with Hana, Audy Bella believes that Lastri: The Spirit of the Village Flower offers a different experience compared to most horror films. According to her, the audience is not only invited to feel fear but also emotions that linger after the film ends.
"The audience will not just be scared. They will also feel. And that is what makes this film different," said Audy Bella.
LASTRI: THE SPIRIT OF THE VILLAGE is set in a village during the 1980s, haunted by a dark legend about a woman named Lastri. Her presence brings terror while also unveiling long-hidden secrets. Amidst the mystery, the character Turenggo emerges, holding an important connection to the series of horrific events that occurred in the village.
The film LASTRI: THE SPIRIT OF THE VILLAGE is scheduled to be released simultaneously in cinemas across Indonesia starting July 16, 2026. In addition to presenting a horror story full of mystery, this film also marks the final cinematic work of Gary Iskak, which will always be remembered by Indonesian film lovers.
