Actress Laura Basuki once again demonstrates her dedication to acting. To immerse herself in her role as a nun in the latest film titled YOHANNA, she is willing to face various new challenges, including learning to drive a pick-up truck in extreme terrain.

In this film, Laura plays Sister Yohanna, who must endure a difficult journey in Sumba. One scene requires her to drive a pick-up truck, a skill she had never mastered before.

Not just learning, the process is also full of adrenaline. This mother of one admits she had to drive the car on the beautiful yet dangerous roads of Sumba, with a gaping ravine on one side.

"Driving a pick-up truck is so much fun because when else would I drive a pick-up truck in beautiful Sumba, even though the roads are right next to a ravine, it feels really adrenaline-pumping," she said when met at Plaza Indonesia, Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Friday (4/3/2026).

This tense moment even made her worry about the safety of her co-star sitting next to her.

"I even told Iku (her co-star), sitting next to me, 'Iku, wear your seatbelt, I'm sorry'," she recounted while laughing.

However, behind all those challenges, Laura actually found unforgettable excitement. Besides driving, she also had to learn to play the guitar, adding to the list of new skills she gained from this film project.

"There are many challenges here because it requires skills that I don't have, like playing the guitar and driving a pick-up truck," she explained.

The film YOHANNA tells the story of a young nun who experiences a crisis of faith after witnessing the harsh social realities in Sumba. This film, directed by Robby Ertanto, is scheduled to be released in theaters across Indonesia starting April 9, 2026.
