Masayu Anastasia Delves into the Role of a Forensic Doctor, Witnesses an Autopsy Live

Kapanlagi.com - Masayu Anastasia appears differently in her latest film titled AUTOPSY: DEAD BODY CAN TALK. At the age of 42, she is trusted to portray Hastry, a policewoman who is also a forensic doctor and often involved in handling police cases. This role presents a new challenge as she has never played it before.

Before diving directly into the field, Masayu conducted independent research to understand the world of forensics. She read literature and watched various forensic-themed films as references, and then proceeded to observe the autopsy process live.

"I also wanted to observe at the autopsy site, and eventually, it all happened. I read a lot of books and watched films related to forensics. That’s it," she said when met at XXI Epicentrum Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (1/9/2026) evening.

The experience of witnessing an autopsy in the field left a deep impression. After the observation, Masayu admitted that she began to feel interested in the activities in the forensic room.

"I feel like I want to be in the forensic room all the time after knowing the autopsy procedures," she revealed.

1. The Burden of Portraying Doctor Sumy Hastry

Not only dealing with technical research, Masayu admits to carrying a personal burden because the character Hastry is inspired by a real figure, a widely known forensic doctor in the police institution, Sumy Hastry Purwanti. She wants to perform with precision in every movement and procedure.

"I also, because I carry the name of Mrs. Sumy Hastry, I don't want to take it lightly. From the way of holding the knife, to the tools used, I really asked until the details," said Masayu Anastasia.

To ensure the accuracy of the scene details, she directly asked various technical aspects to the original figure she portrayed, including regarding the parts of the body that are the objects of examination in the autopsy room.

"Then the parts of the body, I even asked at that time, 'Ma'am, how do I...' when in the autopsy room," she continued.

2. Film Story and Release Date

Autopsy: Dead Body Can Talk tells the true story of the career journey of a policewoman and forensic doctor named Sumy Hastry Purwanti in handling various cases in the police force.

This film features a lineup of actors, including Teuku Rifnu Wikana, Samuel Rizal, Riyuka Bunga, and Nagra Pakusadewo.

With a thriller drama theme, this film is scheduled to be released in cinemas across Indonesia starting September 3, 2026.
