Releasing April 2026, Horror Film 'SONGKO' Brings Up the Legend Story from Minahasa

SONGKO is based on a legendary story that has developed in the community of North Sulawesi, particularly in the Minahasa and Tomohon regions. This film presents a chilling atmosphere from a mysterious terror that haunts a village at the foot of Mount Lokon.

This film was born from the idea of Santara Production House, which sees the great potential of regional stories in Indonesia. Through this project, Santara aims to collaborate with local talents to tell stories from their own regions, so that the narratives presented feel more authentic and have a strong cultural closeness.

1. Close to the Community

Interestingly, SONGKO stars Annette Edoarda, Imelda Therinne, Fergie Brittany, Tegar Satria, and Khiva Iskak, who will take the audience into an atmosphere of mystery and fear.

For Khiva Iskak, his involvement in this film is a very different experience because the story feels so close to the lives of the local community.

"What makes this film interesting is that the story comes from a legend that is truly believed by the community. During the filming process in Tomohon, the atmosphere felt very strong and supported the narrative. It made the experience of acting in this film feel very intense," said Khiva Iskak.

2. A Different Story

Meanwhile, Annette Edoarda admitted that she was interested in joining this film because of its unique storytelling strength.

"SONGKO is not just an ordinary horror film. The story is about fear, accusations, and how a village can be torn apart by terror they do not understand. That is what makes this story feel very emotional yet chilling," said Annette Edoarda.

The film SONGKO is set in 1986, in a village in Tomohon, Minahasa land, plagued by terror that makes its citizens live in fear. One by one, young women are found dead in gruesome ways without clear explanations.

3. Showing April 23, 2026

The villagers began to believe that the death was not an ordinary event. They were convinced that their village was visited by SONGKO, a mysterious being believed to be hunting for the sacred blood of young women to attain immortality.

Fear slowly turned into suspicion. Accusations began to emerge, eventually leading to the Mikha family. Helsye, Mikha's stepmother, was accused of being the mastermind who summoned SONGKO to their village. As fear transformed into anger, the village began to split. Brotherhood fractured, trust shattered, and conflicts among the villagers became inevitable.

However, the real terror had not yet begun. Because SONGKO not only targeted victims but also brought disaster to anyone nearby. The film SONGKO will be released in cinemas across Indonesia starting April 23, 2026.
