Review MY HUSBAND, MY WOUND, Acha Septriasa and Baim Wong Successfully Evoke Emotions

The film MY HUSBAND, MY WOUND tells the story of Amina, a woman who seems to live in a harmonious household with her husband, Irfan. However, behind that image, Amina is actually a victim of domestic violence that continues to destroy her physically and emotionally. The situation becomes even more difficult when their daughter, Nadia, experiences a critical health condition, forcing Amina to endure for the sake of her child's safety.

In the midst of fear and constant pressure, Amina meets Zahra, a lawyer who gives her hope to escape the cycle of violence. This film not only presents an emotional family drama but also voices the courage of women to fight against violence and seek justice. Starring Acha Septriasa, Baim Wong, and Raline Shah, this film carries a strong message about struggle, protection, and hope.

Acha Septriasa's acting as Amina and Baim Wong's as Irfan are central to the story, successfully evoking emotions in the audience. Why is that? Check out the full review of the film MY HUSBAND, MY WOUND here.

Usually, people are afraid when watching horror films because of ghosts, but this film feels scarier because it feels more real. That's what makes it suffocating while enjoying the storyline.

Acha Septriasa as Amina truly immerses herself into the character of a woman who appears strong on the outside but secretly harbors many wounds. Through dialogue, gestures, and subtle expressions, Acha successfully conveys her character's emotions to the audience. There are even several scenes without long dialogues that effectively communicate those emotions.

Meanwhile, Baim Wong delivers a strong performance as Irfan. He is realistic, manipulative, and makes us aware that toxic relationships sometimes come in the most “normal” forms.

MY HUSBAND IS HURTING ME successfully shows that domestic violence is not always about physical abuse. Manipulation, excessive control, emotional pressure, and losing oneself are also real wounds. Red flags and toxic relationships are often wrapped in the name of “love,” and that’s what makes this story feel close yet striking.

Supporting the presented plot, the acting elements, cinematography, and color grading are all very captivating. The natural beauty of Pangkal Pinang serves as an aesthetic landscape for the story and makes it even more dramatic.

The plot in SUAMIKU LUKAKU successfully evokes the audience's emotions through its dramaturgy. The conflicts presented feel realistic, prompting the audience to want to be angry, shout, or even feel frustrated while watching.

SUAMIKU LUKAKU is a harsh slap for anyone who is in a relationship with a paradoxical figure, someone who is praised by many, but secretly becomes a nightmare for their partner. The drama presented nudges victims of domestic violence like Amina to be brave enough to speak out and not continue to live in silence.

This film makes anyone who watches it feel an emotional turmoil until the credit title rolls. Or is there anyone who still feels it even after leaving the cinema?

The most painful reality is when someone is hurt in a place that should be the safest home. The husband figure who should be a protector instead becomes the source of the deepest wounds
