Vino G. Bastian Touched by Ringgo's Story in the Film 'TANAH RUNTUH'

The film TANAH RUNTUH, which will be screened in theaters starting June 25, 2026, not only presents a story about social conflict in Poso, Central Sulawesi. Directed by Rudi Soedjarwo and produced by Denny Siregar, the film also offers a humanitarian story from the perspective of children who have rarely received attention.

This is what left the deepest impression on Vino G.Bastian after watching the film for the first time at a press screening. The Jakarta-born actor admitted that he was touched by the way TANAH RUNTUH highlights small stories amidst the major events that have occurred in Indonesia.

According to Vino, many people have only viewed a conflict through the number of victims or the magnitude of the events that occur. In fact, there is another side that is often overlooked, especially the experiences of children who become victims of such situations.

"Too many people capture that event on a large scale, but the small things are often forgotten. In a riot, chaos, the most affected are children. But they cannot speak. They were never asked, and they are a part that seems to have escaped media coverage," said Vino at a press conference at XXI Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Thursday (18/6).

The actor who plays Idham believes the story of Kai and Ringgo serves as a reminder that every major event always leaves scars for children. For that reason, he feels fortunate to be involved in a film that raises that perspective.

According to him, the story presented in TANAH RUNTUH is also relevant to various conflicts occurring in many countries. Furthermore, Marsha Timothy's husband admitted to gaining valuable lessons after watching the film. In fact, he plans to take his child to see TANAH RUNTUH because he sees many life values that can be learned from the journeys of the characters within it.

"So this film made me realize when I watched it, it seems like we are less grateful. It feels like we are less grateful, living comfortably, but seeing our brothers and sisters over there, it feels like we are not grateful enough," he expressed.

Not only that, Vino also highlighted the message of tolerance which is one of the spirits of the story. According to the father of two children, unity and mutual respect cannot just be a slogan, but must be fought for starting from the family environment.

"So the point is tolerance, mutual appreciation, and mutual respect must be fought for. From whom? From us first. What is the smallest environment? Family," he said.

In addition to Kai's story, Vino's attention is also directed towards the character Ringgo played by Ridho Khaliq, an actor with Down Syndrome. He emphasized that Ringgo's presence is not just a complement to the story, but one of the main strengths that makes this film feel more alive and emotional.

"One thing I caught, they don't want to be treated differently like that. They want to be empowered. And Ringgo's presence here is absolutely not a burden for all of us in this film," said Vino.

"So don't twist it that Rido's presence becomes a commercial weapon for us. No, we have never thought like that from the beginning, but rather Rido's presence opens our eyes that they deserve to be empowered as best as possible," he added.

LANDSLIDE follows the journey of Kai and Ringgo, two siblings who are separated from their mother amid the turmoil in Poso, Central Sulawesi. In a situation full of uncertainty, they strive to survive while searching for their mother with the help of Idham. The film stars Vino G. Bastian, Ridho Khaliq, Yoan, Sigi Wimala, Jenda Munthe, Tubagus Ali, Agnes Naomi, Jerry Likumahwa, Royhan Hidayat, Tike Priatnakusumah, Luna Allegra, and Sari Koeswoyo and will be released in theaters across Indonesia starting June 25, 2026.
