Indian films are synonymous with songs and dance. Every song in Bollywood predominantly contains a distinctive genre like dangdut. However, this time, it seems that the production team of GULLY BOY is showcasing its own characteristics by incorporating elements of rap music.

The storyline of GULLY BOY, which is still rarely addressed in Bollywood, has almost led this film to be nominated for an Oscar. So without further ado, let's dive into the review of this film.

The story of this film begins with a young man named Murad, played by actor Ranveer Singh, who has to take time off to work as a driver in the midst of his studies. Murad's family's poor economic condition often makes him look down upon.

When Murad is taking a break on campus, he sees a rapper named MC Sher (Siddhant Chaturvedi) performing. From that moment, Murad becomes interested in rapping. Although he is aware that his decision to pursue his dream of becoming a rapper will likely be opposed by his family, especially his father, who believes that being a rapper does not hold a promising future for Murad. However, his father's dismissive view does not make Murad give up on his dream of becoming a rapper.

2. Friends Are One of Life's Precious Treasures

Perhaps through this film, we can also see the strong bond of friendship between Murad and MC Sher. From the beginning of his dream to become a rapper, MC Sher always helps Murad. They record their first song together, compete in rap battles together, and MC Sher remains supportive of his friend even when he loses.

MC Sher also encourages Murad not to easily give up on his dream of becoming a rapper because he also comes from a poor family but wants to show the whole world that he can succeed. This is what makes Murad consider MC Sher as if he were his own brother.

3. The Power of Love and Prayer

In achieving a dream, of course, the prayers from his mother play a significant role in making Murad's dream of becoming a successful rapper come true. Murad's mother is always amazed by her son's achievements, which have garnered millions of viewers on the Youtube platform through his rap videos.

The love from his girlfriend, Safeena, played by actress Alia Bhatt, also motivates Murad not to give up on becoming a successful rapper because Safeena's parents do not approve of their relationship due to Murad's lower-class background. Therefore, Safeena always supports her boyfriend to prove to her parents that he can be successful.
