Irfan Hakim is currently building a pendopo in front of his residence. Although it is not 100% complete yet, the magnificence of this pendopo is already visible. Â
"The size is not gigantic, but it is indeed quite large compared to Soimah's pendopo," said Irfan when met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (31/10/2023).
Irfan said that Soimah praised the pendopo he built. Moreover, Irfan obtained materials that can be considered as ancestral heritage.
"But Soimah also acknowledged that my pendopo is priceless in terms of value, because it is also from 1883 and it is an inheritance from ancestors," said Irfan.
Furthermore, building a pendopo is something that was done without planning. Irfan was chosen by the owner of the old pendopo who had the right to buy and rebuild it at his house.Â
"Instead of being taken by outsiders, foreigners like to collect, so I 'forced' to build the pendopo in front of the house, now the pendopo is standing, the rest can be improved so that the place can be maximized," said Irfan.Â
In the future, Irfan will use the pendopo for various activities, such as studying and as a place to relax when guests come to his house.
"There are plans to have monthly women's study groups, children's study groups every afternoon, and also many guests come to the house, there is a place for artists to create, all guests are from various backgrounds, from politicians to animal lovers," he concluded.
Interestingly, initially this pendopo was targeted to be completed in 3 months. However, unexpectedly, this Javanese-style building was completed in just 1 month.
As mentioned, the materials for this pendopo date back to 1883, which means that this pendopo is already 140 years old.
