Ni Luh Ketut Mahalini Ayu Raharja or better known as Mahalini is one of the most successful singers in Indonesia. Her name shines even more after releasing several hits, one of which is Sisa Rasa. In fact, that song also made her boyfriend Rizky Febian nominated in 3 categories at the Indonesian Music Awards (AMI) 2022.
Not only that, Mahalini also received an award from the Bandung Music Awards 2022 in the category of Most Popular Newcomer Singer. Surely, Mahalini's success in the Indonesian music industry was not achieved easily.
Because of the difficulty of adjusting campus activities and a career in the entertainment world, Mahalini was forced to leave her dentistry studies to become a singer.
"I'm not studying anymore. The thing is, when I was trying to do both at the same time, it turned out to be completely unsynchronized. It's really difficult to synchronize, really difficult," said Mahalini at the Kapanlagi.com office, Tuesday (8/2/2023).
This 23-year-old singer explained that the responsibility of dentistry studies is very significant. Because, it requires truly studying and understanding dental medicine theory.
"Even during exams, I have to study, I can't not study. In high school, I could get away with not studying, I could cheat. But in dentistry studies, I can't cheat. 'If you lose a tooth, one or two, it's impossible'. The responsibility is really huge," she said.
"Not only when we become doctors. But when we are studying now, the responsibility is huge. I mean the responsibility of being a doctor. My responsibility is to learn how. Because as a doctor, honestly, I can't cheat at all," she added.
Although, it is acknowledged that many people regret Mahalini's decision to quit college because of her career as a singer.
"Imagine people saying 'such a waste, such a waste'. Seriously, please. If I were to pursue being a doctor, I would have to leave this (singing career)," she said.
Furthermore, Mahalini mentioned that she is currently enjoying her career in the music industry.
"I've been busy playing music," Mahalini said with a laugh.
