In the midst of the hustle and bustle of one corner of Jakarta, the figure of a mother selling Padang vegetable ketupat and nasi uduk can be seen patiently waiting for customers. The middle-aged woman is named Mrs. Yuli or affectionately called Bu Padang by the surrounding residents. She has been selling Padang vegetable ketupat and nasi uduk for 3 years to make a living.

And unexpectedly, Bu Padang has a quite touching story behind her struggle. Check out the photos and her story below.

Bu Padang is usually seen with her simple cart around Jalan Cijago. She sells Padang vegetable ketupat, nasi uduk, and some other foods.

It has been 3 years since Bu Yuli started selling. However, she used to only use a wooden table and sell in front of her house.

Now, Bu Yuli can sell using a cart that was provided by Kitabisa, Human Initiative, and also the Selfitta (fans of Selfi LIDA) who donated at the KapanLagi Dangdut Goyang charity event some time ago.

Previously, Bu Yuli used to be accompanied by her husband for trading, but now she is alone since her husband passed away.

When talking about her late husband, tears couldn't be stopped from falling down Bu Yuli's cheeks.

Bu Padang tells a story if she and her late husband were together for 41 years before death separated them. They used to go anywhere together. Now she has to face the harshness of life alone.

Now Bu Yuli is only assisted by her child, who pushes the cart from home to the selling location.

Bu Yuli claims that the revenue she can earn can reach Rp 300 to Rp 400 thousand per day if she is in good health.

However, it cannot be denied that the pandemic condition often makes it difficult for her to sell her merchandise.

Bu Padang always welcomes buyers so warmly and friendly, whoever they are.
