7 Facts about Saras Dewi, the Singer of 'Lembayung Bali', Who is Now a Philosophy Lecturer at UI

Not only in the field of music, the wife of Coky Netral, who is affectionately called Yayas, is also accomplished in other fields, one of which is education. 1. Original From Bali

Saras Dewil was born in Denpasar, Bali on September 16, 1983 with the original name L.G. Saraswati Putri. The woman, who is now 38 years old, is the eldest of ten siblings. 

Since childhood, Saras has been studying in Bali, and after graduating from high school, she continued her education at the University of Indonesia and majored in Philosophy.  

2. Career Beginning

Saras Dewi started her career in 2002. At least, she has been involved in the music industry in Indonesia for almost 20 years. She released her first album under the label Bintang Record, with the single "Lembayung Bali."

This debut album was immediately nominated for the AMI (Indonesian Music Awards) in the categories of Best Ballad and Best Single.  

3. Married

In 2010, Saras Dewi finally ended her single life by marrying a musician named Christopher Bollemeyer, whom we more often know by the name Coky. Yes, Coky himself is a guitarist of the band Netral.

Eleven years together, their marriage has been far from gossip and scandalous news.

4. An Activist

As an artist and academician, Saras Dewi has a high social spirit, she is also an activist. In 2014, Saras also raised her voice loudly by singing together for the movement Bali Rejects Reclamation.

Not only that, she is also very concerned about Human Rights. She is also very active on social media and helps to raise awareness of the role of art and literature.

5. A Writer

His soul as a person who loves the field of art and literature, he poured it into writing which eventually became a book. Yes, Saras has published at least 4 books.

Interestingly, out of the four books he has published, it's not just about a collection of poetry, Saras also writes literary works that touch on Human Rights.

6. Holding a Doctorate

After graduating from high school, Saras Dewi took a major in Philosophy at the University of Indonesia. After completing her undergraduate studies, Saras continued her studies in the same field.

Having received a scholarship from undergraduate to doctoral level, Saras finally completed her doctoral program in 2013 at the age of 29. 

7. Becoming a Lecturer at UI

Saras Dewi first taught in 2006 as an extraordinary lecturer at UI. And in 2009, she became a Civil Servant lecturer for the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UI. 

From 2010 to 2016, Saras served as the head of the Philosophy program while pursuing her doctoral degree. And now, she is known to be a lecturer in Eastern Philosophy, Environmental Ethics, Philosophy and Human Rights, Phenomenology, and Literary Philosophy at the University of Indonesia.
