Maya Septha admitted that many have criticized her decision to undergo plastic surgery. "Yes, there are a lot of sarcastic comments. But it's okay. The internet community is vast; they don't know where it's coming from and what thoughts are behind it," said Maya when met in the Kapten Tendean area, Mampang, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (11/2/2025).
Maya also emphasized that beautifying oneself, including through plastic surgery, does not mean one is ungrateful. She compared it to other beauty treatments that many people also often undergo.
"In my opinion, this is like one of the efforts to beautify oneself, like treatments, but more extensive. Is it ungrateful to undergo treatments? If we dye our hair, does that mean we are ungrateful? Of course not," she added.
Maya understands that everyone has their own views and opinions. However, she chooses to focus on her own happiness. "Once again, everyone indeed has their own thoughts, has their own opinions. For me personally, this is my choice," she explained.
In addition, Maya feels that this decision is a form of her responsibility towards her appearance, especially as a public figure who often appears in front of the camera. "I have tried treatments before, but they didn't work. The camera is really harsh. So this is the choice that I think is right," Maya revealed.
The surgery that Maya underwent included several procedures, including her eyes, nose, and facial contouring. The facial contouring was the biggest challenge during recovery because it made it difficult for her to eat. "The contouring is what makes it hard to eat. The other procedures might be okay, but this one is really difficult," she said.
Despite receiving criticism, Maya feels satisfied with the temporary results of her surgery. She hopes the final results in the next six months will meet her expectations. "I'm okay with this. But I'm waiting to see what the final results will be. It will probably take about six months to see it clearly," said Maya. aal
