After carving a journey as a member of JKT48, Desy Genoveva chose the comedy path as the next step in her career in the entertainment world. Desy, who is now known as Desy 'Ngapak,' has also joined the comedy sketch show Pesbukers. Check out her portraits below!
Desy chose comedy because she wanted to explore various things in the entertainment world. Although in JKT48, the main focus is singing and dancing, Desy wants to prove that the entertainment world has a wide space for exploration.
"I'm not singing in JKT48, I'm just fooling around. In the past, the basics of JKT48 were singing and dancing, but we can explore many things," said Desy when met at Studio BSC, Cawang, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/12/2023).
"Maybe that's what ordinary people don't know, what I mean is that after graduating from JKT48, I am one of those who continue in the entertainment field and I choose comedy," added Desy.
Desy also explained that not all former JKT48 members choose the entertainment path after graduation. Some choose different professions such as becoming a doctor or working in an office.
"Other ex-members may not continue in entertainment, some become doctors, some work in offices, many," she said.
As a new comedian, Desy admits that comedy is not easy. She feels the difficulty in understanding her role, whether it is being a feeder or giving cues to her colleagues to make the comedy funny. "The difficulty is, if the correction is wrong, in comedy there is a part of giving cues and catching cues," said Desy.
"Maybe we don't know what our task is, maybe we are part of catching cues, or maybe we both take the cues, it can't always be the same, we have to explore," added Desy.
Despite facing challenges, Desy, who is now part of the Pesbukers program, hopes to continue providing fresh and not boring comedy. "Well, this is expected in striping, so the comedy has to keep going, the hope is also not to be boring," she concluded.
