A number of Indonesian musicians visited the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) to discuss the Copyright Law. Among them were Ariel Noah, Armand Maulana, Kunto Aji, and Bunga Citra Lestari.

Their visit aimed to directly discuss with the government regarding the protection of singers' rights in the music industry. Armand Maulana explained that the musicians share the same concerns about the current music ecosystem. /far

Meanwhile, Ariel Noah emphasized that they came as representatives of singers who are members of the VISI (Vibrasi Suara Indonesia) organization. According to him, resolving this issue must involve the authorities so that the solutions taken can be more effective.

"We from VISI represent the voice of the singers. In this case, we actually want the authorities to handle it. So, the state should come down and mediate," said Ariel Noah.

"We came here due to the concerns happening in the current music ecosystem. We are all united, 'it seems we should go to the government,' at least to provide input from the perspective of singers. The Minister mentioned earlier that it's not just singers; there are songwriters and promoters who are also here. We are just providing input from our angle," said Armand Maulana at the Kemenkum office on Wednesday (19/2/2025).

VISI was formed as an initial step so that singers could have an official platform to express their aspirations. Armand also invited the public and fellow musicians to look at the manifesto they have created. "Actually, we already released the manifesto yesterday on Instagram @VibrasiSuaraIndonesia. It would be lengthy to explain, it's already there," Armand revealed.

In this meeting, Bunga Citra Lestari also expressed her hope for a tangible solution for musicians. According to her, it is important for the music industry to have a fair and clear system for all parties.

"What is certain is that we are on the same page, because we have talked. We from VISI, the singers want a solution soon so that we can create a good music ecosystem for everyone. Fair and good for all. So we want everything to be clear, peaceful, and fair," he said.

He also hopes that this issue can soon find a clear resolution. "Hopefully this problem can be resolved as soon as possible," he said.

One important thing discussed in this discussion is the formation of VISI, an organization that accommodates the voices of singers. Armand Maulana revealed that until now, singers in Indonesia do not have an official union that protects their rights.

"Alhamdulillah yesterday we gathered, then I talked to Mama Ina. And it turns out that from the past until now there has not been a singers' union. There isn't one. That's why we gathered a number of singers yesterday, and finally, VISI, Vibrasi Suara Indonesia, was formed," he explained.
