Admitting Many Things on Podcast, Ahmad Dhani Supports Accident Victim's Widow and Raises His Child in Prison

1. Tell the Story in Prison

In 2019, Ahmad Dhani was sentenced by the Surabaya District Court for defamation. He then told the story through the Close The Door podcast with Deddy Corbuzier. He admitted being placed in a small room where a one-meter space was used by two people.

"I was in a 6 x 10 room, with 120 people. So, 1 meter for 2 people," said Ahmad Dhani. This senior Indonesian musician added that he was once placed next to a murderer who was also a pedophile. Dhani explained that during his time in prison, he confirmed the existence of a caste and level system among the inmates.

"The difficult part was when I was transferred to Surabaya because of a case there. It means I was far from my family. For someone like me, family is what makes me happy," said Ahmad Dhani when asked about the most challenging moment during his one year in Medaeng Surabaya prison.

2. Afraid of Going to Jail Because of His Child, Ahmad Dhani: Safeea Knows From Her Friend

When asked if he is afraid of going to jail again, Ahmad Dhani admitted that he does not want to experience being imprisoned again. Because, he prioritizes the feelings of his family whom he left behind if he gets involved in legal problems again. According to him, leaving the family during imprisonment is a burden and responsibility.

"I only care about the feelings of the people who love me, not just my wife, but also my children like Safeea, Safeea is heavy. Safeea was heavy when I was in jail, one year was heavy for her, she was actually traumatized," Dhani revealed the condition of his daughter when he was imprisoned. Moreover, Safeea knew about this because she was told by her school friend, even though no one had told Safeea about it before.

"A few times Safeea cried in jail. In the waiting room, she always didn't want to leave and said 'let's go home, dad,' that was unbearable," said Ahmad Dhani, recalling the moments when his child and wife visited him at Cipinang Prison in Jakarta.

3. Fund the Family of Dul Jaelani Accident Victims for 9 Years

When asked about his economic condition, Ahmad Dhani admitted that his karaoke business is currently struggling. He hopes that the government can understand the situation of business owners whose businesses are affected by the pandemic. As known, Ahmad Dhani owns a karaoke business called Masterpiece Karaoke.

"Although if you still remember, I am still supporting the widows who were hit by Dul, their husband, back then. And usually, I take the money from Masterpiece," he said. He stated that he has to support the victims' families no matter what the circumstances are. Although it is not legally written or based on a written agreement, he does it based on moral grounds.

"From 2013 until their children finish college. At that time, there were still some who were 2 years old. I supported them," added Ahmad Dhani, who claimed that he has been supporting the victims' families for 9 years until now, including financing their children's education. Ahmad Dhani mentioned that there are 5 widows whose living expenses he has to cover. However, currently Dul Jaelani is also helping by supporting 1 widow, so Ahmad Dhani is only supporting the other 4 widows.
