Admitting to Feeling Stressed During Open Mic in New York, Pandji Pragiwaksono: Why Am I Not Funny?

1. 3 Times Open Mic

When starting out, Pandji said that he could do three open mics in a day. He even admitted that at first he was stressed because the jokes he delivered were not funny at all.

"Well, for your information, I can do stand-up three times a day, three open mics. That means six times a week, count how many times in a month. Well, I wasn't funny from January to May," said Pandji Pragiwaksono.

"I don't know how many times I failed, I was stressed, 'Why am I not funny? What am I doing here?'. Until I slowly found my style, until I found my chance. But that's the struggle," he continued.

2. Conduct Research

Pandji also admitted that he conducted research from various sources to prepare and match his stand-up material in New York.

"Well, I wanted to move from 2017. I made sure to move, meaning there were countless YouTube videos, podcasts, and articles that I consumed for this preparation. For example, like Jo Rogen, a famous podcast that is very popular. He sometimes interviews stand-up comedians, and every stand-up comedian interviewed usually talks about their life as a stand-up comedian there. So, I absorbed all of that. So, the research is mainly from there when it comes to career," he said.

3. Pursuing a Career

In addition, for matters of housing and schooling for his children, this 43-year-old man said that he also studied it. He did everything to be able to focus on pursuing a career as a stand-up comedian in New York.

"When it comes to schooling for my children and housing, there are usually other websites that I study," he added.
