Asma, Diding Boneng Faces the Aftermath of Filming KKN in Desa Penari

In addition to the disaster of his house collapsing, Diding Boneng is also fighting against health issues. The 75-year-old actor revealed that he is now suffering from asthma, despite having no prior history of the disease.

Diding recounted how he first experienced symptoms of shortness of breath. He suspects that this condition was triggered by intense exposure to artificial smoke while filming the phenomenal horror movie, KKN in Desa Penari, a few years ago.

"I realize this started since I returned from filming the movie (KKN di Desa Penari). At that time, the shooting was in the forest, 80% of the scenes were at night and always used artificial smoke effects," recalled Diding when met in the Matraman area, Central Jakarta, on Friday (02/01/2026).

The long shooting duration and continuous exposure to smoke are suspected to be the main causes of the respiratory issues he experienced. This is certainly ironic for an actor known for his dedication to his role.

"I filmed two titles, a total of about 80 days exposed to smoke continuously. Maybe that's the cause. The doctor said it's asthma. In fact, I've never had asthma in my life," he explained.

To maintain his condition, Diding now regularly visits the community health center and takes medication. He also has to adhere to the doctor's restrictions to prevent his asthma from recurring, one of which is to avoid stress and physical exhaustion.

"Routine visits to the community health center. Yesterday the doctor also came here bringing medicine. The important thing is that the doctor said I must not get tired, must not be stressed, and must always be happy. If I think too hard, I immediately feel short of breath," he said.

This health condition also affects his shooting activities. Diding admitted he hasn't dared to accept film shooting offers since he got sick, even though he really wants to return to work to earn a living."I really want to shoot again to earn money, hehe. Since finishing that film, I haven't dared to shoot again because of my physical condition," Diding honestly revealed.

Currently, Diding fills his days with lighter activities such as teaching theater and being a speaker in acting discussions. He hopes his health will recover soon so he can return to creating works on the big screen.
