This Lupus novel series writer passed away at the age of 57. According to his close friend, artist Tengku Firmansyah, the cause of his passing was complications.

"I received news that Mas Hilman passed away this morning due to liver problems. His liver had healed, but it relapsed and now there are complications. Eventually, his body's immune system couldn't fight the disease," said Tengku, who was met at the funeral home in Bintaro, South Tangerang.

Tengku Firmansyah and Cindy Fatika Sari, the couple, revealed that Hilman Hariwijaya's illness started with his liver about three years ago. From the liver, it progressed to a stroke and lung issues.

"He had liver problems three years ago and underwent surgery. It was quite severe. After the surgery, thankfully, he improved. Then in 2021, he suffered from a severe case of COVID-19, and after that, he had a stroke," explained Cindy.

2. Rarely Use Social Media

When sick, Hilman Hariwijaya is said to rarely use his cellphone for social media. Considering that previously he was quite active in sharing the development of soap operas based on his script.

"When sick with stroke, Mas Hilman rarely contacts. Because Mas Hilman is not allowed to use social media too much. Because his stroke is related to the brain, so he needs a lot of rest. Even though he used to actively use his phone and often contacted through WhatsApp," added Tengku Firmansyah.

During the last communication, Cindy Fatika Sari revealed the last conversation with the late Hilman Hariwijaya. The deceased asked about how to sincerely accept his illness.

"He shared how to sincerely accept all the pain so that the soul remains calm and accepts Allah's decree of suffering. Because it is not easy and quite heavy for him," said Cindy.

It was known from his Instagram that Hilman was seen lying on a bed in December 2021. It is not known for sure what illness he was suffering from, but at that time many netizens prayed for his speedy recovery.

Hilman himself is widely known as the author of the comedy book series Lupus. The book was even made into a soap opera on television from 1999 to 2001. At that time, the Lupus soap opera starred Mona Ratuliu and Irgy Fahrezy.
