The news of Nani Wijaya's passing was announced by her daughter, Cahya Kamila. Cahya Kamila shared the sad news on her Instagram story.
"Innalillahi wa innailaihi rojiun, our beloved mother has peacefully returned to Allah, Hj. Nani Widjaya passed away on March 16, 2023 at 3:28 AM in RS Fatmawati," wrote Cahya Kamila.
Still fresh in memory, last March Nani Wijaya was rushed to the hospital. Her condition was critical and she experienced shortness of breath. Nani Wijaya underwent intensive treatment.
Nani is known as a beautiful and youthful figure despite being almost 80 years old. Her career is also quite long.
Yes, for the 90s generation, Nani is known for her role as Emak in the sitcom BAJAJ BAJURI. The sitcom was quite successful and lasted for years.
Nani herself successfully portrayed the character of Emak who was mischievous, cunning, and made people annoyed. Interestingly, even though BAJAJ BAJURI has ended, Nani's career continues to roll.
She is popular for starring in various soap operas such as MUTIARA, ISABELLA, MISTER OLGA, TUKANG BUBUR NAIK HAJI THE SERIES, ANAK SEKOLAHAN and ORANG KETIGA.
In her final years, Nani Wijaya received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Indonesian Movie Actors Awards 2021 and the Indonesian Drama Series Awards 2022. It's no wonder that her career spanned from 1860 to 2021.
Long before BAJAJ BAJURI, Nani's name was already well-known. She had been acting since at least 1960, starring in the film DARAH TINGGI.
Nani's career continued to thrive even until 2021. Her last recorded role was as Oma Risma in the soap opera CINTA MULIA.
