Ayu Azhari Talks about the Role of Women in Facing the Pandemic

"This is something new for me to be given responsibility, trusted as the chairwoman," said Ayu Azhari in a virtual dialogue, welcoming the Islamic New Year, 1 Muharram, Monday (8/9/2021).

In the virtual dialogue, they also discussed the Role of Women in the Pandemic Era from a historical, sociological, and modern political perspective.

As the chairwoman, the first thing Ayu wants to do is to encourage women to be stronger in facing the pandemic that has been going on for almost two years and also to help the government in suppressing the spread of Covid-19.

1. Help the Government

"This discussion will reflect an important role in the history of this nation, in order to encourage the advancement of women in facing the challenges of the times, especially in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic. We must support the government to quickly end the spread of Covid-19," said Ayu, who is also a member of the National Volunteers Against Covid-19.

In facing this pandemic, together with Perempuan Muslimah Amanah, Ayu, along with Astri Ivo, Ummi Pipik, and other women activists, are ready to synergize and assist the government in suppressing the spread of Covid-19.

"Together, we can help the government in suppressing the spread of Covid-19 by supporting vaccination," said Ayu.

2. Women Have an Important Role

Meanwhile, Astri Ivo, who participated in the virtual dialogue, stated that women have an important role in facing the pandemic in family life.

"The pandemic should not be seen as a hardship but as a learning experience. The wife's task in the family is to provide strength for the husband in earning a living. Women with noble character can bring happiness to the family," said Astri Ivo.
