Becoming a Witness in a Defamation Case, Nikita Mirzani Faces 22 Questions

Kapanlagi.com - The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has issued a Notice of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP) related to a report of defamation made by the artist Nikita Mirzani on March 22, 2019.

After receiving the letter, Nikita Mirzani, along with her legal counsel, Fahmi Bachmid, visited the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on Wednesday (16/9/2020) to undergo examination as a witness.

"Niki's first visit is for examination as a witness, indicating that Niki's report is in the investigation stage. So a few days ago, Niki received a notice of the commencement of an investigation into her report against someone named Indra Tarigan. So, posting something that greatly discredits Nikita's child and Nikita," said Fahmi Bachmid at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police on Wednesday (16/9/2020).

Nikita received 22 questions from the police. Clearly, it is related to Indra Tarigan's post about Nikita's first child, Laura Meizani.

"We have received a notification about the start of the investigation today. Nikita has been questioned, there are about 22 questions related to the issue of someone posting a photo of their child with very inappropriate words," said Fahmi.

"There are many sentences, I think I don't need to mention it clearly, it is a criminal act. It is related to the defamation law, the ITE law, and maybe also related to child protection," Fahmi continued.

2. Grateful

Nikita herself feels grateful because her report has been followed up by the police, even though it took quite a long time.

"Alhamdulillah, it means that the police don't choose which cases to pursue. Because until now, Niki has always been the one reported, now it's Niki's turn to report back, even though it takes a long process, almost a year and six months, because Niki reported it on March 22, 2019. Now it's September 2020. The process is quite long, maybe the police also have many duties," said Nikita Mirzani.

Nikita said that Indra Tariga's post had a big impact on Laura Meizani. In fact, because of that, the girl who is usually called Loly had to change schools because she was afraid of being mocked by others.

"At first, when she was in school, she had to move. Because all her friends use gadgets. Even though she knows her parents are not like that, she feels that there are people like that. So she had to move because she didn't want to hear people's insults and she was also down. 'Why is my photo being displayed? What did Loly do wrong?,'" concluded Nikita Mirzani.
