Before Divorce, Limbad and Second Wife Must Attend Isbat Hearing to Validate the Status of Siri Marriage

Kapanlagi.com - Benazir Endang, Limbad's second wife, made a surprising statement some time ago. Endang admitted that she could no longer maintain her marriage with the mentalist. Therefore, she requested a divorce as soon as possible.

So far, Limbad has not commented on his wife's divorce request. However, the divorce process will apparently take place at the Tiga Raksa Religious Court in Tangerang.

"The case filed by Benazir Endang as Limbad's wife has been registered since January 13, 2020, and will be heard on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. Represented by her legal counsel," said Jaeludin, the Public Relations Officer of Tiga Raksa Religious Court, when met at the court in Tangerang on Friday (17/1).

1. Limbad and Endang Got Married Secretly

After investigation, it turns out that Limbad and Endang got married secretly. Therefore, they must go through an isbat hearing first to legalize their relationship before proceeding with the divorce process.

"The basis of the lawsuit is divorce, accompanied by several other claims, including child custody and child support. And what makes this case special is that it was previously an Isbat Nikah (unregistered marriage) and this is the accumulation of the isbat before the divorce, meaning the marriage was done secretly," explained Jaeludin.

"Yes, isbat because there is no written evidence of the marriage and it is not recorded in the existing Office of Religious Affairs (KUA). So there will be witnesses called later to determine whether the marriage meets the requirements, its validity, and then the judge will consider it to grant or deny the divorce. If it has been granted, then the divorce process will proceed," he added.

2. Will Undergo Mediation Process First

Certainly, there will be a mediation process first, where both parties will sit together to find a middle ground to resolve the issues. But if there is no hope left, then the divorce process will be continued.

"The first agenda of the main case will be mediation, to reconcile and find a solution. If not, then it will proceed to the main case. As for the child, the validity of the marriage will be considered. The law, the child's status, inheritance, and so on will be determined based on the marital status," Jaeludin concluded.
