When met at his store in Fatmawati area, South Jakarta recently, Atta Ul Karim briefly explained how the carpets were created. He said, the carpets originated from Persia where at that time they were intended for the king.

"Why? Because the king at that time was arrogant and said that the earth was not worthy to be stepped on directly, initially they were going to make stepping stones from stone but eventually they made the carpet for the king to step on, the material was initially made from plants and made by hand, tied by hand," said Atta Ul Karim.

In addition to the regular carpets he sells, it turns out that Atta also provides various carpets. There are even carpets with historical value.

"There are all kinds of carpets here, including carpets with historical value," he said.

Atta Ul Karim mentioned that the cheapest carpet is priced at Rp 3.5 million and he still considers that price cheap. There are also manually made carpets priced at Rp 82 million, and these carpets can be sold again at a much higher price.

"A good carpet is judged by how dense it is from the back, not by its thickness. If the cheapest one is Rp 3.5 million, it's not expensive. Handmade, if it's made of silk, it costs Rp 82 million. But there are benefits to that, if after 20 years you get bored, you can sell it back to me and the price will increase, but it depends on the condition of the carpet," he explained.

"Collectors will know that it can be resold. It depends on the person," he concluded.
