Blunt Meaning of Stage Name, Sule Makes Rhoma Irama Laugh When He Knows the Meaning

Kapanlagi.com - Recently, dangdut singer Rhoma Irama invited Sule as a guest star on his Youtube channel. On that occasion, Sule talked about the meaning behind his stage name.

As we know, Sule's birth name is Sutisna. However, when starting a career in the entertainment industry, this comedian chose a stage name that turned out to be his nickname since childhood.

"Sule is an abbreviation of Susut Leho (Shrinking Mucus in Sundanese language). So, I used to have a runny nose, and when my father got angry, he would say 'You, Sule, Shrinking Mucus'. So, I had a runny nose, and it kept shrinking," said Sule as quoted by KapanLagi.com.

Hearing this unexpected explanation, Rhoma laughed. "People probably wouldn't expect that. Many people think it's a Sundanese-Bule (foreigner) abbreviation," continued the husband of Nathalie Holscher.

Although the origin of his name is amusing, Sule's selection is considered unique by this 44-year-old man. Coincidentally, at the beginning of his career, he saw many comedians using different names which later became their characteristic.

"Look at Akri, his stage name is different, Eko's stage name is different, and others are also the same. Finally, I also changed mine. Who knows, I might become famous," explained the father of four children.

Sule then admitted that he has been a fan of Rhoma Irama for a long time. That's what makes him often impersonate the figure known as the King of Dangdut.

"I am an unorganized fan of Rhoma Irama, personally and spiritually. I really like his lyrics, style, and others. Especially Soneta. When I do comedy, I want to be Rhoma Irama," said the father of musician Rizky Febian.
