Child Prostitution Modus Operandi in Cynthiara Alona's Hotel, Dated and Sold Through Chat Applications

Kapanlagi.com - Cynthiara Alona has been declared a suspect in an online prostitution case after her two-star hotel was raided by the police. Alona obtained this status after it was proven that she intentionally made her business a location for illicit activities.

What further complicates Alona's position is that this prostitution involves underage children. Girls aged 14 to 16, who were later identified as victims, were sold for prices ranging from 400,000 to one million for each transaction.

"The rates range from 400,000 to one million. This will be divided further. Is it only once? No, it's more. Some have served these unscrupulous individuals more than once," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Pol Yusri Yunus, during a press conference on Friday (19/3/2021).

Furthermore, it was revealed that this online prostitution practice was carried out through the MiChat messaging application. The children who were sold were obtained by first being courted before being offered jobs.

"How do they recruit? Some are courted, some are offered a 'job' so that these underage victims are willing to do it," said Yusri.

2. Ancaman Penjara 10 Tahun

Cynthiara Alona turned her hotel business into a prostitution den due to financial needs. This 35-year-old woman, along with two other associates with initials AA and DA, were charged with several articles with a maximum imprisonment of ten years.

First, Article 76 I juncto Article 88 of the Indonesian Law No. 17 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection.

Second, Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Indonesian Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of Trafficking in Persons.

Then, Article 27 paragraph (1) juncto Article 45 of the Indonesian Law No. 19 of 2016 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Article 296 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning facilitating obscene acts and/or Article 506 of the Indonesian Criminal Code concerning prostitution.
