Choky Sitohang's Story of Being 'Trapped' as a Journalist Before Becoming a Skilled Presenter

Kapanlagi.com - Before becoming a presenter, it turns out that Choky Sitohang worked as a journalist. He worked in that profession for three years, from 2002 to 2005.

When met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon (19/5), the 37-year-old man shared how he got trapped in the world of journalism. Initially, Choky Sitohang applied for a job as a host on a television station, but he was instead positioned as a reporter.

"I applied to the TV station as a presenter because I wanted to be a presenter, but somehow I ended up in the editorial department. Then someone from the editorial department called me and said they were looking for a presenter and asked me to come to Jakarta for an interview. After six back-and-forth trips between Bandung and Jakarta, I finally got accepted," said Choky Sitohang.

1. Initially Confused

After starting work on the first day, Choky Sitohang was initially confused because he suddenly received an assignment to cover an event at the Tebet Police Station in South Jakarta.

"At first, I was confused about why I had to cover it. Then, after returning from the scene, I came to the office with the recording and when I gave it, I was asked to make the news. I thought, why, I'm a presenter, I was confused," he said.

2. News Presenter

Long story short, Choky Sitohang, who was initially confused and felt trapped, finally understood the purpose of the job vacancy he applied for. This father of two tried to pursue that profession and before he knew it, he enjoyed three years of being a journalist.

"Finally, I found out that the presenter referred to is a news presenter, which is also a reporter, a journalist who goes into the field. I was trapped as a journalist for 3 years," he concluded.
