Clarification from Sarah Salsabila Regarding a Virginity Auction of Rp 2 Billion, Turns Out to be Just a Sarcastic Video to Mock Society

Through her controversial Instagram post, Sarah decided to raise funds by auctioning her virginity.

"It was a tough decision in my life, maybe some of you understand this, my friends. But I have firmly decided to raise funds, hopefully you take the positive side," wrote Sarah Salsabila on her Instagram before it was deleted.

Her post immediately went viral and became a topic of discussion, so Sarah immediately clarified the matter. On Thursday (5/21), Sarah explained that her post was just a satire.

"Hello friends, I'm sorry for causing a commotion, actually the virginity auction was my way of mocking people who are unaware of the current situation, still hanging out, and so on," she said.

"My intention was sarcasm/joke, there are some people who bet on the most important thing in their lives. But it turns out that the sarcasm I made went too far and I sincerely apologize. I did not mean to demean women and I also did not intend to auction off my virginity.

3. No Intention of Panjat Sosial (Social Climbing)

Furthermore, Sarah admits that her sarcastic post was not her way of doing panjat sosial (social climbing)/

"The content I provide on Instagram is indeed sarcastic and joking, I hope my friends understand my intention even though the way is wrong. This is a lesson for me to be more careful in choosing words, there is no intention of panjat sosial (social climbing) that can make my account unfollowed. Thank you," she wrote.

4. Apologizing

In that clarification post, Sarah also apologizes and admits that she will accept the consequences she receives.

"Once again, I apologize sincerely, I accept the social sanctions consequences that you give. But I am also a human being, I was surprised to receive hate speech directed at me. I couldn't sleep tonight and my family was also shocked by the sarcasm I made and the response from people who bullied me and my family," she said.

"To redeem my mistake, I will provide 1000 groceries from my own money and that money is HALAL, I have never sold myself and my self-esteem," she concluded.
