The name of the artist Sarwendah has recently gone viral due to its association with the issue of black magic at Gunung Kawi. In response to the negative news, Sarwendah's legal representative, Simon Abraham, provided a firm clarification that his client’s visit to the location was purely for work purposes.

Simon explained that the circulating video is an old incident taken around 2021 or 2022. At that time, Sarwendah was involved in the process of shooting content with her management team. Here are the details.

According to Simon, the activity was part of the production of a horror-themed program. The issue of supernatural wealth that is widely circulated on social media is considered to have strayed far from the facts that occurred on the ground at that time.

"We need to clarify that what happened was actually quite a while ago, that video was from around 2021-2022. So at that time, there was indeed a podcast shoot called Kakak Beradik," said Simon Abraham in the Tebet area, South Jakarta, on Monday (18/5/2026).

Sarwendah did not come alone to Gunung Kawi. She was accompanied by a complete production team and other family members to complete the content shooting. Simon emphasized that all activities were clearly recorded as a form of work professionalism.

"So indeed at that time our client along with his team went there for a shooting activity. Podcast, podcast. The podcast indeed had a horror theme. So there was definitely filming and video taking there. Clearly so," said Simon Abraham.

The legal representative regrets the existence of parties trying to seek sensation by re-uploading that old video. The virality of this news is considered very detrimental to Sarwendah's position as a public figure.

"These news reports that might have initially intended to entertain, seeking sensation like this, but with such virality, it is quite harmful to our client being mentioned like this. This is slander, right?" emphasized Simon.

Simply put, if Sarwendah was only seen once at the location, it strengthens the evidence that her presence was only for a specific event or occasion. Pesugihan is usually associated with rituals that are performed repeatedly.

"If we find our client only once at Gunung Kawi, it means it’s not pesugihan. Pesugihan is supposed to be repeated; they come again, they ask again, they come again. So if it’s just once, it’s clear that it was indeed an event where a podcast shooting took place," concluded Chris Sam Siwu.
