Disgusted But Daring to Act with a Snake for a Horror Film, Masayu Anastasia Admits She Became Fond - Understand How to Calm Down

Because the role of a sinden named Handini offered to her had never been played before, Masayu immediately accepted all the challenges.

"The beginning of my involvement in this film was through a screentest process. After two weeks, I was called to meet the director to discuss gaining weight, interacting with snakes, and practicing dance to become a Sinden," said Masayu, who was met at Epicentrum XXI, Rasuna Said area, South Jakarta, on Monday (3/6/2024).

"This is an extraordinary challenge that I have never faced before. Because it's really all in one," continued the 40-year-old woman. 

An unforgettable impression when involved in the film PAKU TANAH JAWA is having to act with real snakes. During the reading process before shooting, Masayu Anastasia had no choice but to get closer to the reptile

"In this movie, I had interactions with snakes. At first, I was really disgusted with snakes, I even told the director that I was disgusted. But in the end, for the sake of perfection, I interacted with the snake during the reading. And in the end, I really fell in love with the snake," said Masayu.

Unfortunately, the snake used during the reading was different from the one prepared at the shooting location. So Masayu Anastasia had to get close to it again.

Fortunately, she was able to handle the situation well, so everything went smoothly. According to Masayu, the key to holding a snake is not to panic.

"The snake at the shooting location was different, but oh well. The tip is, when holding a snake, don't panic because if it knows we're nervous, it becomes aggressive. If we stay calm, it stays calm. That's why the snake appears calm in the movie," said Masayu.
