[Exclusive] Tetsuya L'Arc~en~Ciel Reveals the Reason Behind Like~an~Angel's Formation and Calls the Concert in Jakarta Most Memorable

Kapanlagi.com - The legendary rock band from Japan, L'Arc~en~Ciel has a very large fanbase in Indonesia. Although they have not been active for quite some time, their presence is still greatly missed.

The last time they came to Jakarta with the complete lineup was in 2012 during their World Tour. Now in 2025, fans' longing is somewhat relieved as Tetsuya, the bassist, returns to Indonesia.

Not under the banner of L'Arc~en~Ciel, but a band named Like~an~Angel. Uniquely, this band formed by Tetsuya always performs hit songs from L'Arc~en~Ciel at each of their shows. Yes, they are the official cover band of Laruku.

Tetsuya and Like~an~Angel will perform at LaLaLa Fest 2025 located at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta, specifically on August 22, 2025. They will perform a total of 10 Laruku songs and also 1 original song in a duration of about one hour.

Specially, the KapanLagi.com team got the opportunity to conduct an exclusive interview with Tetsuya, Saki (guitarist of Like~an~Angel), and also Jekyll (vocalist of Like~an~Angel) the following day. We certainly do not want to miss this opportunity. Check out the complete interview below..

1. Reasons for Forming Like~an~Angel

Many are curious why Tetsuya chose to form Like~an~Angel instead of making a comeback with Laruku. In that brief interview session, Tetsuya provided his explanation.

"I want to perform many L'Arc~en~Ciel songs, but they have long stopped doing live concerts, so I want to hold live concerts in a more flexible way. And with Jekyll as the vocalist, who has native English pronunciation, I want to start holding concerts all over the world. So that's how the story began," Tetsuya said during an interview with KapanLagi.com on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

As is known, Laruku is still around. However, they have not performed together for quite some time, considering the busy schedules of each member who has different solo projects.

For example, Hyde, the vocalist, is currently on tour to promote his latest album 'INSIDE', with Indonesia being one of the stops, specifically on November 1, 2025.

Like~an~Angel consists of Jekyll (vocals), Tetsuya (bass), Saki (guitar), Reno (guitar), and Hibiki (drums). They are talented musicians who are also still active as members of popular bands.

But the question is, how did Tetsuya find them? "I searched for members on the Internet. It feels a bit strange to say this myself, but I think I have a real talent for finding and selecting members. You will understand when you watch our concert, so I hope as many people as possible will watch it," said Tetsuya.

Like~an~Angel initially only performed covers of Laruku's hit songs. However, now they have their own original song titled Angel Beside YoU. This song was also performed during their appearance at LaLaLa Fest 2025 recently!

3. Concert in Indonesia Becomes an Unforgettable Experience

Tetsuya previously held a concert in Indonesia with Laruku back in 2012. And according to him, the concert in Jakarta is one of the most unforgettable and impressive.

"In 2012, I came to Jakarta as part of the world tour, and the show in Jakarta was the most energetic live performance worldwide. The atmosphere was amazing even before the show started. At yesterday's performance, you all sang along to the song ‘You’, and hearing your voices unite like that was truly beautiful," concluded Tetsuya.

Similar admiration was expressed by Saki and Jekyll. They were very impressed with the fans in Indonesia who showed incredible energy.

"I had heard how friendly this place is, so I was really looking forward to it. Actually, yesterday was also very energetic, and we truly enjoyed a wonderful time. I really want to come back again," said Saki.

"They have amazing energy, they really enjoyed and sang along with us. I am truly grateful," concluded Jekyll.
