This is because his father, Joko Suyoto, was arrested by the Banyuwangi Police Criminal Investigation Unit in connection with an online gambling case on Tuesday (10/6). He has now been named a suspect.
"We charged him under Article 303 of the Criminal Code regarding gambling," explained the Head of the Banyuwangi Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Komang Yogi Arya Wiguna, as reported by Detik Jatim on Wednesday (11/6).
Joko was apprehended at his home in Kepundungan Village, Srono District, Banyuwangi. His wife, who is also Farel's mother, with the initials SM, was also apprehended along with several witnesses.
"The person in question, at the time we apprehended him along with his wife, based on our investigation, is indeed the one playing or has strong indications of playing this title, while others are merely witnesses," added Komang Yogi Arya Wiguna.
Furthermore, Komang stated that in this case there is strong evidence in the form of online mahjong gambling activity found on the suspect's mobile phone.
In front of the investigator, Joko also admitted that he engaged in gambling to fill his free time. All this time, Joko has had a grocery store, so to fill his free time, he played gambling.
As of now, the exact number of gambling transactions that Joko has conducted is still unknown.
"We are still investigating the transaction values. According to JS's confession, he has been actively engaged in online gambling for the past few months," revealed Komang as reported by radarbanyuwangi.jawapos.com.
