Fighting Against Severe Cancer, Comedian Nurul Qomar Undergoes Chemotherapy Every 2 Weeks

Kapanlagi.com - Comedian Nurul Qomar was diagnosed with stage 4c aggressive cancer in the intestines. To treat his illness, this man born on March 11, 1960, had to undergo a major surgery in September 2021.

"I have stage 4C aggressive cancer in the large and small intestines. In September, I had a major surgery that lasted for about 3 weeks in the hospital," said Qomar when contacted by Kapanlagi.com, Monday (10/4/2021).

After undergoing surgery, the member of the comedy group Empat Sekawan still has to fight against cancer by undergoing chemotherapy.

"Now I'm undergoing chemotherapy treatment to kill the aggressive cancer cells for the next six months," said Qomar.

1. Every 2 Weeks

According to the man who once served as rector and former member of the DPR, he has to undergo chemotherapy every two weeks for six months. Currently, he has just undergone his first chemotherapy.

"I have to undergo chemotherapy every two weeks. One chemotherapy session lasts for two days and two nights with infusion, around 46 hours. I have to undergo another session on October 11," he said.

According to Qomar, the aftermath of chemotherapy is the severe nausea that he finds extremely distressing.

"The nausea after chemo is the worst. Even though I have been given anti-nausea medication, I still feel nauseous every time I wake up," said Qomar.

2. Changes Experienced by Qomar

Qomar also added that due to his illness, he no longer defecates through his anus. "So his digestion is changed, no longer through the anus, but through the waist, a stoma hole is made," he said.

His eating pattern has also drastically changed. Now, he is not allowed to consume any food or drink that contains flavor enhancers, preservatives, and food coloring.

"Medically, I am no longer allowed to eat burned food because the charcoal triggers cancer. I am also not allowed to consume the 3 Ps. Flavor enhancers, preservatives, and food coloring. Basically, anything that contains the 3 Ps is not allowed," he said.
