Kapanlagi.com - The former members of Kangen Band experienced difficult times after internal conflicts and disbandment. At that time, almost all of the Kangen Band members chose not to continue their musical activities. Dodhy, the guitarist and songwriter of Kangen Band, recounted this.

"When the band was in conflict, it was very sad. My bassist, Bebe, became a motorcycle taxi driver. I was very sad about that. He was already in a very bad state. He was not doing well with the motorcycle taxi. After that, he got divorced from his wife. His condition was really bad. He only had 5000 rupiah in his pocket," said Dodhy at Kaybin Studio, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (31/5/2023).

"Then, my keyboardist, Izzy, started a small vape business. He waited from around 10 in the morning until night. He did it for about three years. Then, my guitarist, Tama, came to Izzy's house. We have reconciled now. It was heartbreaking to see his motorcycle. The speedometer glass was shattered," he continued.

1. Bankruptcy of Business

Not only Bebe, Izzy, and Tama lived in difficult times. Dodhy also chose to do business outside of music after Kangen Band disbanded.

None of his businesses were successful. He even went bankrupt and became poor.

"I have tried various businesses and failed. I have used up four houses for trading, opened a café, and started a livestock business," said Dodhy.

2. Renting a House

Dodhy admitted that he once lived in a rented place because he no longer had valuable possessions.

"In Cibubur, I rented a place and only had a six million rupiah motorcycle. I was really confused and stressed thinking about how to rise again. Finally, I sold songs cheaply. It's okay to sell them cheaply because the house has been used for business, so how can we survive, and on top of that, we were enemies with other band members," he said.

Knowing each other's poor condition, Dodhy and his friends once thought of going back to their hometown. However, they didn't do it because they were ashamed.

"We thought it was over in Jakarta. We wanted to go back but we were embarrassed because we were known as artists. People thought we had money. It was really hard," said Dodhy.

3. Returning to Work

Now they have reunited and risen from the downturn. One thing Dodhy is grateful for during difficult times.

He and his friends didn't exaggerate their difficult situation to the public, hoping for other people's compassion.

"Fortunately, the Kangen Band members are not exaggerating and not updating their social media to ask for help like donations," he said.
