From Avicii to Jonghyun, Here are 5 Music Albums Released After the Musicians' Death

1. CIRCLES - MAC MILLER

Starting his debut as a rapper at the age of 15, Mac Miller immediately became a sensation in the hip hop scene. The former boyfriend of Ariana Grande has released 5 albums before he was found dead in his home on September 7, 2018.

2. LEGENDS NEVER DIE - JUICE WRLD

Young and talented, Juice WRLD was expected to become an anticipated rapper in the future. Especially his single LUCID DREAM, which was released when he was 20 years old, successfully gained over 1 billion streams on Spotify.

Juice WRLD was found dead on December 8, 2019, while at Chicago Airport. A posthumous album titled LEGENDS NEVER DIE was released in 2020 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. This album also involved many other big musicians.

3. FAITH - POP SMOKE

Still only 20 years old, rapper Pop Smoke skyrocketed to fame when his singles WELCOME TO THE PARTY and DIOR exploded onto the scene. He then released the mixtape album MEET THE WOO in July 2019, followed by his second mixtape MEET THE WOO 2 on February 7, 2020.

Two weeks after the release of that album, he was killed in his home. Shortly after, a posthumous album titled SHOOT FOR THE STARS, AIM FOR THE MOON was released and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. In fact, 19 tracks from this album entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

4. TIM - AVICII

The death of Avicii was incredibly painful for his friends and fans. Not only because he chose to end his own life, but also because it was the culmination of a long series of struggles for the electronic music producer, whose real name was Tim Bergling. The producer who popularized WAITING FOR YOU decided to retire from touring the world due to his mental health condition.

After that heartbreaking death in 2018, a posthumous album was released in 2019. Titled TIM, this album became Avicii's final work and also featured Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin.

5. POET - JONGHYUN

The shocking news of the death of the main vocalist of SHINee, Jonghyun, has deeply saddened Shawols and music enthusiasts around the world. He decided to end his life on December 18, 2017.

Jonghyun's death has left many wounds due to the mental health issues that many musicians face, leading them to choose to end their own lives. To commemorate the musician, a posthumous album titled POET was released in January 2018. All profits from this album were given to Jonghyun's mother, who then donated them to a foundation that helps young musicians with their personal problems.

Although it cannot heal the pain of losing a favorite musician, the presence of the posthumous album at least serves as a remedy for longing and a final tribute to the dedication of the musician during his lifetime.
