Gen Halilintar Sued by Nagaswara for Allegedly Violating Copyright of the Song 'Lagi Syantik'

Kapanlagi.com - Nagaswara music label has finally filed a lawsuit against Gen Halilintar for copyright infringement of the song popularized by Siti Badriah, Lagi Syantik. Yos Mulayadi, Nagaswara's lawyer, stated that his client has suffered losses.

"If we talk about the lawsuit, there will definitely be material and immaterial losses, but the amount will be determined when the lawsuit is read. The loss that is certain is the copyright infringement, as there is a distorted creation due to the Gen Halilintar version of the song and my client's version," he said at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (29/1).

Yos mentioned that the charges in this case are more related to copyright infringement. "Mostly under the moral rights of Article 4 and Article 9 regarding copyright infringement, producing without permission, license, and altering the lyrics," he explained.

1. There Was a Meeting with Gen Halilintar

Nagaswara admitted that there has been a meeting with representatives from Gen Halilintar. In fact, a protest letter was sent in 2018.

"We have sent a protest letter at the end of 2018 and the first meeting took place in early 2019 between my client and Halilintar management. They were cooperative but couldn't reach an agreement, so my client filed a lawsuit for legal certainty," said Yos Mulayadi.

"(Uploaded) on Gen Halilintar's YouTube channel and has been taken down, but the issue is a violation of copyright, intellectual property, there are protections and responsibilities. The point is there," he added.

2. Desire for Deterrent Effect

With this lawsuit, Yos Mulayadi emphasized that there are several demands from his client towards Gen Halilintar.

"Legal certainty, copyright campaign, and a deterrent effect, of course. Copyright has its laws," he stated.
