Gymnastics Athlete Naufal Takdir Al Bari Dies in Russia After Accident During Training

1. FGI Announces

This sad news was conveyed directly by the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (FGI) on Friday (26/9/2025). Naufal took his last breath after undergoing intensive treatment for almost two weeks at G.A. Zakharyin Hospital due to an accident during training.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun. Our national male athlete Naufal has passed away. Naufal was a talented young athlete and a good person. Indonesian gymnastics has lost one of the nation's best sons," expressed FGI Chairperson, Ita Yuliati, in a written statement.

3. Potential Gymnast

Naufal was known as one of the potential gymnasts being prepared to compete in the 53rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2025 in Jakarta, the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, and the projected 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

4. Since September Training in Russia

Since September 1, 2025, Naufal along with four other male artistic gymnasts has been participating in a training camp at The Palace of Sport Training Center Burtasy, Penza, Russia. This program is fully supported by the National Sports Training Center (PPON) of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

5. Experienced an Accident

Unfortunately, during the program, Naufal experienced an accident while training and had to be treated in the ICU. During the treatment period, FGI continued to coordinate with the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, the Russian Gymnastics Federation, and the hospital to provide the best care for Naufal.

6. FGI Manages the Return of the Deceased

"We are currently in continuous communication with the family, the East Java Provincial Sports Committee, the Indonesian Embassy in Russia, and the Russian Embassy in Indonesia to ensure the return of the deceased can be carried out as soon as possible," said Ita.
