According to the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Yusri Yunus, the arrest of Richard Lee was in accordance with the procedure.

"It was in accordance with the mechanism. The person (Richard Lee) initially refused to be taken by the investigators, so there was a forced effort. We came to read his rights, but he did not want to cooperate, so a forced effort was made," said Yusri at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Thursday (12/8).

Richard Lee was picked up by the police for questioning at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. The pick-up of Richard Lee was carried out by investigators from the Special Crime Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

"This pick-up of (Richard Lee) is the result of the investigators' investigation," said Yusri Yunus.

1. Not Because of Kartika Putri's Report

Doctor Richard Lee is known to have had a dispute with Kartika Putri regarding beauty products. Kartika Putri finally reported Richard Lee to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

However, it turns out that is not the reason why the police detained Richard Lee. The doctor and health influencer is suspected of violating the ITE Law and committing illegal access and tampering with evidence. Investigators found evidence of illegal access on his personal Instagram and Twitter accounts.

"This case is not about defamation reported by Ms. K (Kartika Putri)," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Yusri Yunus, on Thursday (8/12).

"There was illegal access and theft of evidence committed by RL," added Yusri Yunus.

2. Uncooperative During Interrogation

When he was about to be detained, the man who works as a doctor was uncooperative and refused to go with the police. Finally, the police took decisive action by carrying Richard Lee.

"It was done according to the procedure. The person in question (Richard Lee) initially refused to be taken by the investigator, so there was a forced measure. We read his rights, but he refused to cooperate, so we had to resort to force," he concluded.

The arrest of Richard Lee was also documented by his wife, Reni Effendi, and uploaded on her Instagram account, @renieffendi24. In the recorded video, Reni expressed her disagreement with her husband's arrest.

"Please, sir, explain why my husband was arrested first," Reni said in her Instagram story.

"My husband said to wait for his lawyer to arrive, but I don't know why these gentlemen (the police) resorted to forced arrest," Reni wrote.

"My husband is not a criminal, not a terrorist, not a corruptor," she continued.
