Her Uterus Removed, Melanie Subono Still Shocked to Face the Reality of Not Being Able to Have Children

Kapanlagi.com - Melanie Subono is used to undergoing surgery due to a tumor in her body. However, for the recent surgery she underwent, the daughter of music promoter Adrie Subono admitted that it was different.

She said that this time it wasn't just her physical condition that experienced pain, but also her psychological state.

"Actually, many people already know that I have been sick for a long time. I have undergone multiple surgeries for decades. But this recent surgery is different. It's not only physically painful but also mentally painful. I was in shock," Melanie Subono said when met at her residence in Jakarta on Tuesday (2/11/2021).

Melanie said her psychological state was disturbed when she realized that she was no longer complete as a woman. Because now she no longer has a uterus.

"Before, I was just warned that 'you can't have children, you can't have IVF'. But this time, I was slapped with the reality, that's the difference. Yesterday afternoon, I had an ultrasound and my abdomen was empty, there was no uterus, no ovaries, it affected me psychologically. Because in this country, if a woman can't have children, she is considered incomplete. And I have experienced this when I got married before. Even though I'm quite carefree, it turns out it still affected me," she explained.

1. Sick 3 Months Ago

This former wife of I Gusti Ngurah Agus Wijaya said that the reason she had to undergo surgery for the umpteenth time was because she no longer regularly underwent health checks due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I have had this disease for decades but it has been managed because I regularly get checked. But what happened during these two years is Covid. I didn't dare go to the hospital until about 3 months ago, in the early morning, I woke up with severe pain,"

"Previously, I had experienced migraines and severe bleeding but not as painful as this, and since then my stomach has been bulging. Finally, whether I like it or not, I had to go to the doctor and it turned out that one of the fibroid tumors or something burst inside and there was no other choice but surgery. Because the bleeding didn't stop, it was decided to remove everything in my abdomen, uterus, and womb," she said.

2. Recovery Period

Currently, Melanie is in the recovery period after surgery. She admits that she can handle the physical aspects. However, for the psychological aspects, she doesn't know until when.

"Maybe for physical healing, I already know the tricks because I have had multiple surgeries before. From previous experience, I can start exercising after 2-3 months. But for mental healing, I don't know. It has been 14 days since the surgery and I don't know how long it will take for me to heal," she said.
