Mulan Jameela, who is a member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, stated that electric stoves or induction stoves that will be used as a substitute for LPG stoves by the government may not necessarily be suitable for use in Indonesia.

Mulan who owns and has used an electric stove stated that until now she still uses a gas stove at her house. 

"I'm being honest here, in my capacity as a member of the council and as a mother. Even though we have an electric stove at home, we still can't let go of the gas stove," said Mulan Jameela as quoted via Detik.com on Friday (23/3). 

This former member of Ratu then stated that Indonesians who usually cook in large quantities may not be suitable with the characteristics of an induction stove.

"Because Indonesian dishes (usually in large portions) are different from foreign dishes where their pans are usually that size," she continued. 

Mulan Jameela believes that the government's program to convert LPG stoves to induction stoves should not be rushed. Mulan Jameela's opinion has garnered support from netizens, most of whom are mothers.

"Mulan Jameela is right, induction stoves require special cooking utensils and a flat surface, take longer to heat up, and the electricity cost is no joke," wrote a netizen.
