If You Like HARRY POTTER, These 5 Magic School Themed Anime Are a Must for Your Watchlist

Kapanlagi.com - The return of the HARRY POTTER franchise with the latest TV series is indeed big news, especially as it will re-adapt the story from the beginning. However, on the other hand, not all fans are immediately enthusiastic, as this version comes in a very different era compared to the old films. Viewer expectations are also higher, as well as more critical of the quality and approach.

In the midst of this situation, there are actually many interesting alternatives you can try, especially from the world of anime. Some anime present the concept of magic school with a unique approach, ranging from serious and strategic to relaxed and humorous. Although not entirely the same, the vibe offered still feels familiar and exciting to follow.

Interestingly, these anime actually offer a wider variety of stories that are fresh. So if you're looking for a magical world atmosphere but want something different, this option could be the perfect solution. Here are some anime that could be the best alternatives for you to watch.

1. THE IRREGULAR AT MAGIC HIGH SCHOOL

A modern and strategic take on the magic school concept (credit: IMDB)

THE IRREGULAR AT MAGIC HIGH SCHOOL is one of the most popular magic school anime with a quite different approach. Here, magic is not depicted as something mystical, but more like technology with a clear and structured system. This makes its world feel modern and has its own distinctive characteristics compared to other anime.

The main character, Tatsuya, is also not your typical protagonist. He has to face discrimination for being considered less talented, when in fact he has extraordinary hidden abilities. With a long story, strong world-building, and quite complex conflicts, this anime is perfect for those who enjoy serious and strategic narratives.

2. WELCOME TO DEMON SCHOOL, IRUMA-KUN!

A unique devil school that feels warm and entertaining (credit: IMDB)

WELCOME TO DEMON SCHOOL, Iruma-kun! comes with a much more relaxed and colorful atmosphere. The story follows Iruma, a boy who suddenly enters the demon world and has to adapt to his new life in a school full of oddities.

What makes it interesting is that, despite being set in the demon world, the story actually feels warm and enjoyable. With consistent humor, lovable characters, and a light yet engaging story, this anime is perfect for those who want a relaxing watch that is still exciting to follow.

3. LITTLE WITCH ACADEMIA

A light adventure with a warm classic magic atmosphere (credit: IMDB)

LITTLE WITCH ACADEMIA is the perfect choice if you want a more classic and family-friendly magic school story. The tale of Atsuko, who wants to become a witch despite lacking talent, presents a journey full of enthusiasm, hope, and motivation.

Its colorful visuals and light story make this anime comfortable to watch for all audiences. Although it seems simple at first, there are still conflicts and character developments that make the story feel alive and increasingly interesting over time.

4. WISTORIA: WAND AND SWORD

The world of dark magic with intense and challenging action (credit: IMDB)

WISTORIA: WAND AND SWORD offers a darker and more challenging magic world. Uniquely, the main character has no magical abilities at all, which makes his position feel difficult from the start.

Instead, Will relies on physical strength and fighting skills to survive. This makes the story filled with intense action and exciting battles, while also providing a different perspective on the meaning of strength in the magic world. The pressures faced also feel more real and tense.

5. MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES

An absurd but still fun and action-packed parody of a magic school (credit: IMDB)

MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES is the most unique choice on this list. Instead of being serious, this anime turns the concept of a magic school into a funny and absurd parody, but still has a clear storyline.

Mash, the main character, has no magic at all, but replaces it with incredible muscle power. From flying without magic to defeating strong enemies with just physical strength, everything feels ridiculous but still exciting. It is this combination of humor and action that makes this anime very entertaining.
