When met by the media after the wedding ceremony of Aaliyah Massaid and Thariq Halilintar, Zahwa Massaid admitted that she sincerely accepted her sister marrying first. Aaliyah is now officially married to Thariq Halilintar, the man she chose as her life partner.
From the beginning, Zahwa Massaid claimed she had predicted that Aaliyah would marry earlier than her. She mentioned that Aaliyah has always expressed her desire to marry young. Check out Zahwa's photos while telling this story!
"Yes, we often talk about it, since she said she wanted to marry young, even younger than our mother," Zahwa Massaid said at Raffles Hotel, South Jakarta, Friday (26/7/2024).
Zahwa recounts that her mother, Reza Artamevia, got married three months before turning 26. Aaliyah often talks about her desire to marry at a younger age than that.
"Mother (Reza Artamevia) got married 3 months before she turned 26. And Aaliyah always talks about it. The age she gave and the age I gave are different," Zahwa said.
Regarding the tradition of the 'uang pelangkah' (stepping money), Zahwa admitted she does not mind it. She actually became aware of it due to relatives' comments.
"As for gifts, I never asked for any. In fact, I didn't even know about it. They were the ones who said, 'What do you want Zah?,' 'It's up to you. If it's for the pelangkah, it's already at the time of the siraman (traditional cleansing ceremony)," Zahwa said.
Zahwa really enjoyed every part of Aaliyah and Thariq's wedding. She also loves the strong Javanese customs that are very present in her sister's wedding.
"Honestly, I am really looking forward to the siraman ceremony, it's so beautiful using Javanese customs. I don't care if I'm overlooked, I've had a feeling about this since long ago," she said.
According to Zahwa, her happiness for Thariq and Aaliyah's wedding cannot be expressed in words. She feels happy because Aaliyah has found a life partner who loves her very much.
"I am very happy, I am also very grateful for all the support from so many people. It's beyond my expectations," said Zahwa Massaid.
