Meggy's marriage certainly raised many questions from netizens, especially regarding the iddah period that she just went through for a month.
"Yes, my iddah period is now only a month. It will be another two months before it's over. But me and Mas Kiwil have been quietly divorced since April. I haven't received any material or spiritual support from Mas Kiwil from April to August, so it's been 4 months," said Meggy Wulandari, when met at Trans TV, South Jakarta, Tuesday (22/9/2020).
In addition to being divorced, Meggy also thought that her iddah period was over because she had not been supported by Kiwil for the past four months.
"In 4 months, one clean menstrual cycle should be allowed. Because previously I did not receive any physical and spiritual support," she explained.
However, to respect the applicable law in Indonesia, Meggy and her husband decided to hold a nikah siri (unofficial marriage) first. The official ceremony will be held in November.
"In terms of the state, we respect the laws of our country, so it will be in November. To avoid slander, adultery, and unwanted things, we have a siri marriage, according to our religion," she concluded.
