Kekeyi Accused of Copying a Song, Nikita Mirzani: Many Artists Are Starting to Overreact Even Though It's Not the Same

Kapanlagi.com - Kekeyi's song Keke Bukan Boneka (Keke is Not a Doll) has sparked controversy in the music industry. It is because one part of the song is considered similar to a song sung by Rini Wulandari a few years ago.

Responding to the pros and cons of Kekeyi's song, Nikita Mirzani finally spoke up. According to her, if you listen carefully again, the parts of the songs are not the same.

"There's a lot of talk about Kekeyi's song being the same as another singer's. But if you listen again, there is no similarity, only the 'Aku Bukan Boneka' part is the same," said Nikita Mirzani, when met at the South Jakarta District Court on Monday (08/06/2020).

1. Don't Say Anything About Copyright

Niki also criticized the making of song covers that have been trending lately. Many musicians feel that making covers is considered a copyright infringement.

"We know that all industries are currently declining, especially the Indonesian music industry. But don't label every cover as copyright," she continued.

2. Not Meant to Defend Kekeyi

Dipo Latief's ex-wife also emphasized that her statement was not meant to defend Kekeyi. However, she feels sorry for some artists whom she considers to be overreacting.

"I'm not defending Kekeyi, but many artists are starting to overreact, this is my song. Even though it's not the same," she said.
