Shocking facts were revealed in the divorce trial between Kimberly Ryder and Edward Akbar held at the Central Jakarta Religious Court on Wednesday (16/10/2024). Kimberly disclosed that she was once held captive by Edward at their home in Bali.
This incident occurred this year, shortly after Edward uttered the divorce pronouncement to Kimberly. Read the full story below!
"The third witness explained about what happened last at my house in Bali regarding the captivity and all that, like that," said Kimberly Ryder at the Central Jakarta Religious Court on Wednesday (16/10/2024).
Kimberly's lawyer, Machi Achmad, also provided a statement regarding the kidnapping incident. According to him, Edward intentionally locked Kimberly inside the house without providing access to leave. "So she was locked inside the house together. Therefore, after the locking by the defendant," said Machi Achmad.
Kimberly then recounted that Edward even changed the house lock on the same night after he pronounced the divorce. "On the day I was divorced, that night he (Edward) changed the house lock and took all my house keys. And I was not allowed to leave the house, he was afraid I would take the kids out too," Kimberly added.
Fortunately, Kimberly was rescued by her father and her stepmother. They came to the house with local police from the Payangan area in Bali. "In the end, the ones who came to save me were my dad and my stepmom, (they) brought the police to the house to have the door opened," said Kimberly.
After the police managed to enter, Edward was asked to leave the house. Kimberly and her children stayed in the house, while Edward had to leave the location.
This dramatic process has become a significant point in their divorce journey, which is still ongoing in court. The divorce hearing between Kimberly Ryder and Edward Akbar is currently in progress. The panel of judges has rejected the exception submitted by Edward. For your information, Kimberly officially filed for divorce from Edward on July 21, 2024, at the Central Jakarta Religious Court.
