KPI Reprimands Soap Opera 'DARI JENDELA SMP', Highlights Adult Dialogues to Belly Touching Scenes

Kapanlagi.com - Soap opera 'DARI JENDELA SMP' sparks controversy. Revolving around a teenager getting pregnant out of wedlock, viewers have different responses. Some find it unique, while others criticize it.

This soap opera has also caught the attention of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI). There are several notes from KPI regarding the soap opera. This was conveyed by Nuning Rodiyah, Commissioner of KPI Pusat, when contacted by KapanLagi.com via phone call on Thursday (9/7/2020).

1. Adult Dialogues

According to Nuning, there are a number of adult dialogues in the soap opera adapted from Mira W's novel.

"And the most important thing is that the dialogue is already a very mature dialogue. A dialogue that leads to getting pregnant outside of marriage during junior high school. That's something romantic," said Nuning.

2. Inappropriate Dialogue

More specifically, Nuning gave an example of the dialogue in episode six. There is inappropriate dialogue spoken by a junior high school student.

"Like what we found in episode six, it goes something like 'You're from a rich family, you'll have a hard life if you're with me'. And the response is 'It's okay, I'm happy with Joko'. It's not appropriate for a junior high school student to speak like that," she continued.

3. Belly Touching Scene

Not only that, several scenes also became the center of attention. One of them is the scene of touching the belly.

"And the scene of touching the belly, the boy asks 'How is the condition of our child?', that shouldn't be shown on television," said Nuning.

4. Inspiring Young People

Furthermore, the dialogues and scenes are considered to inspire young people to not consider getting pregnant outside of marriage as something wrong.

"It is part of inspiring young people that getting pregnant outside of marriage is not something wrong, they should still love each other and go through it together. It is not suitable for teenage consumption," explained Nuning.
