Legendary Series 'Losmen' Adapted into the Big Screen, Maudy Koesnaedi Appointed to Play the Character Bu Broto

Kapanlagi.com - In the 80s, TVRI once aired a popular series titled Losmen. The series starred Mieke Wijaya, Eeng Saptahadi, Ida Leman, and Mathias Muchus, and it became the precursor to the emergence of soap operas in Indonesia.

Twenty years have passed, production house Paragon Pictures and Ideosource Entertainment are preparing a feature film version titled LOSMEN BU BROTO. This new version is directed by two directors, Ifa Isfansyah and Eddie Cahyono.

1. Surprised to be Trusted as Bu Broto

The character Bu Broto is entrusted to actress Maudy Koesnaedi. Interestingly, when she was first asked to do a camera test, Maudy thought she would play the character Jeng Pur, Bu Broto's daughter.

"When I was first contacted for a camera test, I thought it was for the character Jeng Pur. Because I thought Bu Broto had children. Turns out, I was asked to play Bu Broto, the character is made younger," said Maudy during a virtual conference session via Zoom, on Tuesday (27/10/2020).

2. Portraying a Javanese Woman

Bu Broto is a Javanese woman character. This fact makes Maudy Koesnaedi very challenged because she is usually associated with the character Zaenab, who is a Betawi woman.

"I am very happy to be given the opportunity to try the role of Bu Broto because producers rarely trust me with characters that are different from what I have done before. I am grateful to be given the opportunity to explore my abilities because I feel that at this age, there are not many opportunities to explore. With the character of Bu Broto that will be built together, this is like a playground for me," said the mother of one.

LOSMEN BU BROTO will begin principal photography at the end of the year with an estimated release in 2021. Besides Maudy Koesnaedi and Mathias Muchus, this film still keeps several other actors and actresses secret.
