Like the song 'AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST', Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi admits to being a Blackpink fan on the Kaesang Pangarep Podcast

The most influential K-Pop girl group, Blackpink, has many fans from all walks of life, including the Minister of Communication and Information Technology (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi. Budi was inaugurated as Menkominfo by President Joko Widodo to replace Johnny G. Plate in July. The previous Menkominfo Minister, Johnny, was involved in the BTS 4G corruption case, which led to Budi taking over his position until the end of President Jokowi's term.

In his short tenure, Budi attracted public attention when he wanted to appoint Wulan Guritno as an ambassador against online gambling. This caused controversy because Wulan herself is a promoter of online gambling, so many members of the public disagreed with Budi. Amidst the heated campaign period, Menkominfo, under Budi's leadership, played an important role in preventing the spread of election hoaxes in 2024.  

With the recent attention that Budi has been receiving, he was invited to the podcast hosted by Erina Gudono's husband, Kaesang Pangarep. In that podcast, Budi also expressed his fondness for Blackpink! Let's find out more details below!

1. Blackpink Fans

The 54-year-old minister is apparently very up-to-date with the times. Budi admitted to liking a K-Pop girl group consisting of 4 beautiful girls, BlackPink.

In episode 30 of the PDP podcast, which aired on the YouTube channel Kaesang Pangarep by GK Hebat, Budi expressed his admiration for Blackpink.

"I am a fan of Blackpink," Budi said to the hosts.

"Me too, sir," Kiky Saputri responded.

2. Favorite Bias

The 4-member Blackpink often makes fans dizzy in choosing among them. Jennie, Lisa, Rose, and Jisoo all have their own strengths and uniqueness that always manage to captivate fans' hearts.

On the other hand, Budi had no hesitation when asked about his favorite bias in Blackpink. When asked by Kiky Saputri, Budi mentioned that he likes Lisa and Rose.

"Who do you like, sir, Jennie, Rose, Lisa, or Nurul?" Kiky asked.

"I like Lisa's dancing, and I like Rose's voice," Budi answered.

This Minister of Communication and Information seems to know the talents of each Blackpink member very well, considering Rose is the main vocalist and Lisa is the main dancer.

3. Favorite Old Song

All songs released by Blackpink always boom worldwide. Their latest releases also immediately go viral within seconds, such as the song titled HOW YOU LIKE THAT which garnered 86.3 million views on YouTube within 24 hours. 

Although Blackpink has released many songs up until now, Budi has a special place in his heart for one of Blackpink's old songs titled AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST. After showcasing their dance moves in DDU-DU DDU-DU, Kaesang asked the Minister of Communication and Information Technology about his favorite song.

“Is there any other favorite song, sir?” Kaesang asked.

“The title, if not, it's AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST,” Budi replied.

Kiky was surprised because it's an old Blackpink song. 

“That's an old song, you know,” Kiky said.

“It's from 2018,” Budi responded.

Wow, it seems like our Minister of Communication and Information Technology has been a Blink fan for a long time, right? However, there's a slight mistake because AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST was released in 2017.
